In addition to a wide range of testing and treatment options for ENT issues, the ENT Clinic at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is a high-volume center for minimally invasive outpatient thyroid and parathyroid surgery for the following conditions:

  • Thyroid cancer
  • Indeterminate thyroid nodules
  • Benign thyroid nodules or goiters causing compressive symptoms or cosmetic issues
  • Substernal goiters
  • Hyper-functioning thyroid nodules
  • Grave’s disease
  • Primary and tertiary (renal) hyperparathyroidism

  • Rapid intra-operative parathyroid hormone assay
  • In-office ultrasound and 4D parathyroid CT scans
  • In-office ultrasound assessment of thyroid nodules
  • Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA)

Seth Kay, MD
Otolaryngology (ENT)
Endocrine Surgery
Dr. Kay received his medical degree from Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center and is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He completed an Endocrine Surgery fellowship at Augusta University Medical Center, accredited through the American Head & Neck Society. His special interests include minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He performs in-office ultrasound, including FNA of thyroid nodules and other neck masses, as well as ultrasound-guided alcohol ablations of thyroid cysts.
